Lake Maggiore Travel Guide

It is one of the most beautiful lakes of Italy, surrounded by Piedmontese and Lombard Pre-Alps.

In winter, it is enclosed with white and it seems to touch the sky. In summer, vegetation is rich and everything blooms, starting from the peaks covered with snow which appear less cold and more welcoming under the sun. Lake Maggiore extends on an about 213 square kilometre area, 66 km long and 12 km large.

It is located in the middle of three regions, the Italian Piedmont and Lombardy and Switzerland. Weather is mild, which has allowed the birth of several gardens with Mediterranean vegetation, such as the botanical garden of Alpinia, in Stresa, and that one of Villa Taranto, in Verbania.

On Lake Maggiore, you can have boat rides, on Borromeo islands, water sports or have a walk on the promenade. These are relaxing places with many attractions, ideal for those who want to relax or have fun. You can also walk in the nature and have an excursion in the parks and natural reserves of the zone, which offer breath-taking landscapes and views.
